S22 Strategy Board Games Class (1)

Afternoon Session: 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM - Monday through Friday
The benefits of BOARD games are numerous. Research shows that games release endorphins that reduce stress and increase happiness. No wonder kids love games!
Beyond fun, games are the perfect companion to debate because games focus on core strategic critical thinking skills. As board game players since we were teenagers, New England Academy has collected a number of fun games. We have a large collection of 5 minute games focusing on probabilistic thinking (risk versus reward) and/or communication. We also have games lasting around 1 hour that require students to understand rules and plan a route to victory. All the while, students must pay attention to opponents' paths to victory and actively block those paths.
Strategic critical thinking requires practice, and this class does that with games. Strengthen the debate skills you're learning in the morning with a fun games class in the afternoon, or just take this class by itself. We indulge kids who love games and kindle the interest in those who don't. Games will have kids improving brain function and coming home happy (even if they don't win).
