W23 - Winter Debate - High School

High School Debate: Sundays, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, from November 5 to February 4

Experience competitive debate at its best with New England Academy's Sunday class intended for high school students. Our program is open to students at all levels of experience and is particularly beneficial for those who once participated in the Orange County Debate League and are now attending high schools without debate programs.

Key Highlights:

• Style of Debate: This class is focused primarily on a single style of debate, the modified high school parliamentary format. It provides students with the opportunity to learn and practice debate while preparing for the OCDL High School Tournaments.
• All Skill Levels Welcome: Whether a novice eager to grasp the essentials of argumentation and build confidence or an advanced debater ready to delve into frameworks, paradigms, counterplan burdens, and more, this class meets the needs of any student. No prior experience is necessary.
• Debate Practice: Students will engage in multiple debates on a variety of topics, equipping them with the skills and knowledge required for the OCDL High School Tournaments.
  

Included Events (All Fees Covered):

• OCDL Winter High School Tournament: Scheduled for February 10

No classes held Thanksgiving Week (November 19) nor Winter Break (December 17, 24, and 31)

Optional Events (Additional Fees):

• Arizona State Invitational (in Tempe, Arizona): Scheduled for January 5-7
• Peninsula Invitational (in Palos Verdes, California): Scheduled for January 20-22

Eligibility:

This class is intended for students in grades 9 through 12, but advanced 8th-grade students are also welcome. Please note the OCDL High School Tournament is exclusively open to students in grades 9 through 12. Join us for an enriching debate experience that enhances skills and prepares students for competitive high school debate tournaments.
