Middle School Debate: Tuesday, 4 to 6 PM from February 2 to May 4

New England Academy's program brings debate to students of all ages.  This class builds the fundamentals of argumentation, refutation, and speaking with confidence and allows students to continue to build upon those skills.  While composing and practicing logical and evidence supported arguments, students prepare for competitions including the Orange County Debate League (OCDL) Tournaments. The class is open to all ability levels.

COVID-19 - NEA will run this class entirely online using Zoom.  NEA has extensive experience with digital debate classes.  Our digital classes are as effective as a "meeting in person" class.

S21 - Spring Debate - High School

High School Debate: Sunday, 10:00 am to 12:00 Noon from February 7 to May 9

New England Academy's Sunday class brings competitive debate to high school students.  This class is open to students of all level of experience.  It is especially encouraged for students familiar with the Orange County Debate League but now attend high schools without debate programs.  

This class will focus on one style of debate, modified high school parliamentary, and allow students to learn and practice debate, but also prepare them for the OCDL High School Tournaments.

Su21g - Advanced Debate Clinic

COVID-19 - NEA is considering running this class as a hybrid class, offering a digital and IN PERSON option.  Should there be no demand for a physical class, this class will be converted to entirely online using Zoom. 

Summer Skills Clinic: 9 AM to 12 Noon - Monday through Friday

This class is focused toward the highest level skills found on the OCDL speakers performance rubric. Students will learn and practice assumption identification, opportunity cost, argument weakening and strengthening, and stock policy issues such as harms, topicality and significance. The class is size limited and will feature highly competitive debate with similarly skilled classmates. The class will also feature a leadership component with the intent that students bring those skills to their respective debate programs.
